Why a Blog ? Why now?

The need of communicating among ourselves during these times of distress amid COVID19, has led me to experiment the additional mile by the use of digital channels for communal outreach.

I typically share thoughts and guidance through closed groups of friends in social network like Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn. Now, I am going to give it a try through a Blog.

My intention is not to debate about economic theory, there is plenty of available discussions on that matter. My purpose is to share thoughts and hopefully assist or help find solutions, practical solutions to the plain citizen in two areas where I have some experience: Applied Economics & Finance (banking) and tropical agriculture (farming systems, research and development).

I live in Guayaquil, Ecuador, South America, (-5h GMT) as many citizens of the world, under social distancing by decree of the government.

I have lived and grew up in Marysville, Ohio; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Gainesville, Florida; Quito, Ecuador; Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador; borned in Quevedo, Ecuador. My father was from Quito, my mother from Babahoyo, my wife from Quito, two daughters, one borned in Quito and the other one in Guayaquil. Thus, I consider myself a citizen of the world, at least in part of the Americas.

I have had the opportunity to work in world class financial institutions, mining multinational, timber production, tropical fruit exporter, family businesses, large corporate enterprises.

So, this is my starting point. I will come back with subjects of everyday discussion, to share with you all.
